Option Editing for Retail: Live in Square for Retail, Recruiting Testers

Square_Lockup_Beta_Stacked_BLK.pngAs more and more shoppers remain home due to local limitations, they turn to online shopping. We want to highlight how Option Editing in Square Point of Sale can benefit you and your customers. We would appreciate your feedback on Square’s latest Beta - letting you easily create variations on Items on both Square Point of Sale and Square Online Store.

With this feature, you can edit your Options directly on your Point of Sale app instead of logging into the Square Dashboard. This saves time when making minor changes to your Item Options.

Due to Square’s response to the ongoing crisis, we have enabled this feature for some Sellers - you may see some updated functionality, and if so awesome! Join our Beta Community to share your feedback. If you do not see this updated feature and would like to be included in this test, please comment on the thread below and we’ll enroll your account.

Join our Beta Community to share your feedback/report bugs. This will be our main form of communication for this test and look forward to engaging with you on the forums.

To create your first set of Options in Retail Point of Sale:

  1. Open Retail Point of Sale
  2. Tap the three lines on the left
  3. Tap Items.
  4. Select an item.
  5. Tap Add options.
  6. Enter a Option set name and Display name
  7. Enter option Values and tap Save

In order to use this new ability, please ensure that you are running the most recent version of the Retail Point of Sale app. And respond to this thread so that we can enroll you in this feature. For more details and information on how to use this new feature, please visit out Options Support Center article

Additionally, we wanted to highlight that Square Online Store has released an option for curbside pickup, and local delivery, so that you can quickly adapt to this changing environment. We are also waiving curbside pickup and delivery fees for the next three months so you can start curbside pickup and delivery as soon as this week. Square Online Store already offers online orders for in-store pickup with no monthly fee.

When you preview these new updates and provide feedback, you can directly influence and improve the product. Now more than ever we’re working to give you solutions that work for your business. Your feedback is so important to  us and we thank you for your feedback in advance, and hope that you, your employees, and family are staying safe.

Most of the time we see this when you have not clicked on the intended visibility for the item.

For instance - if you have an item that you'd like to sell online but is showing unavailable, this may be due to inventory or default settings. To check that the visibility is correct:

  1. Login to your Square Dashboard
  2. Go to the Square Online Store
  3. Scroll down to Items
  4. Select an Unavailable item from your Item Library
  5. Check your Visibility on in the Item description (near the bottom of that box)
  6. Marking it visible will allow you to sell it online.

If you are still having issues with it, take a screen shot of one of the items you are having issues with, and respond here. I'd be happy to have one of our eCom specialists take a closer look.

So sorry to just get back to this.

Interesting. I'll escalate this to the team if you are still seeing this issue. Someone should reach out soon.

So glad to hear it, but sorry it took so long. I've added you to the Beta Community as well so that you'll have access to other information there as well.

You'll see a tile for it next time you log into your dashboard at the top of the page.
