Wanted to share my impressions to the update on Dashboard that occurred a few weeks ago. The large pop-up menu for categories when adding a new item is very inefficient. The old style with the standard drop down was far easier and quicker to navigate. Furthermore the automatic suggested categories are way off. You can literally use the word "SOAP" for example in the description and it will auto suggest "CANDY". This feature is more annoying then anything. The ability to accurately auto-fill the category was also removed, previously if you filtered your items list to the appropriate category, "SOAP" for example, then when you created a new item "SOAP" would already be pre-selected for the category. That no longer works, and you are forced to deal with the new pop-up category menu. Having this automatically filled in like before was a real time saver when you are adding a large amount of new items in the same category. Lastly when receiving inventory for an existing item, the stock action drop down would automatically move to "Stock received" if the quantity of the item was sold out at zero, now you must manually select the action each time. These may seem like minor things but when you handle large amounts of item and are always adding new items these changes are very frustrating. It seems just another case of Square making an improvement on one thing and making something that worked perfectly fine before become more difficult.
