I've seen this mentioned on this forum before, in 2021 I believe, but have found no solution provided yet. Perhaps I'm missing something, I'm new at this square thing.
The monthly report format for daily gross sales, returns, fees, net sales, and payout into my bank, seems to only be offered in a horizontal layout. Even the CSV output file is laid out this way. Completely goofy.
ie: to reconcile my Square 'statement' with my bank statement, the bank provides a sequential list of transactions. Square doesn't.
Anyone know how to get the daily reports in a line by line format?
Square responded in 2021 that they would look into it....

@Hcwe ;
If you are looking for a List of Transactions, with Square fees in a Date and Time format you could download your Transaction Details csv. This would give you most of this information but you would need to add someformulas to get the Deposit amount which is what I think your looking for. Now if your looking for the Deposit amount, you could look on your computer at Square Dashbord > Balance > (Your Location or Business name) > View all Transfers > Select the date Range you choose Then Click Export. After exporting you should have these headers for the csv file :
Deposit Date | Payment Date | Type | Transaction ID | Payment ID | Collected | Fees | Deposited | Deposit ID | Location |
The Deposit Date is the Date Square started the Transfer to your bank which may be off by a few dates on your Bank statement if the Deposit date was on a weekend or Holiday etc. The Payment Date is the Date of the Sale, Type is how your payments are made to you, Transaction ID is a refrence for each individual transaction, Payment ID also refrences each transaction shows info Receipt connection, Collected is the Dollar amount that was Collected by Square at the time of sale, Fees are Squares Processing fee for that Transaction, Deposited is How much was Deposited from this transaction to your Bank, Deposit ID is a generated number that is the same for ALL transactions that are from a Days sale, Location lets you know which Location(s) made the sales for this Deposit. If you sum up the Deposited column this should match the Deposit figure shown for a date before Clicking Export.
I used the Export and then a Pivot table to get all the Deposits automatically summed up and sored by the Payment Date.
Since 2021 I think Square created the Page (before hitting Export as described above), which shows the amount Deposited per day. Which is alot better than it use to be since you just had a list of all transactions and not a Total deposit amount from Square to your bank.

Keith, thank you! I'd nearly given up searching through the Report options....
I had a report output to CSV that I'd import into Apple's spreadsheet app and then do a pivot. One more step needed for reconciling, that I really didn't want to have to deal with.
You've saved me.
Thanks again.

@Hcwe ;
Look into Excel, I get it as a Free option from my cell carrier. I actually export my CSV file to a folder, then open an excel workbook. Click refresh all and my newly downloaded csv along with my older ones are automatically updated in a Pivot table and the worksheet. This is all done using Power Query. Here is a Tuturiol video on how to do this with Sales from one year to another but it works for your Bank deposits too or any other type of csv file. Here is the video : Power Query Video it is about a 16 minute video.

Ah! After working with the CSV a bit now, I see that I'm still going to have to do two steps.
I'll have to put it into a spreadsheet and sum the bank deposits per day? PITA
I just don't understand why there's no Report output that lists the daily bank deposits in the statement. Is it such an odd thing to compare the credit card processor's deposit statement with the bank's statement? Do we now trust these systems enough so we don't need to check their work? In years past, we had a processor who screwed up all the time! (Granted it was 20 or 30 years ago)
@Candlestore Thanks for your suggestion however... I'll be able to take screenshots, I suppose!

What you could do is download your Square deposits as a csv. Then insert a Pivot table (Insert - Select Pivot table then to a new sheet) On the New sheet you can select the Date for Rows and Sum the Deposits.
Here is A quick video to do this in Excel, it is similar in Google Sheets.

Thanks Keith,
You pointed me in the right direction with the Banking>Balance CSV download. It does have the info I need, in the correct date-ordered format.
I was able to set up a spreadsheet template to receive it, which 'processes' and sums the bank deposits, grouping them by Deposit ID before summing. Actually works well, and may be better than my previous card processor's statements (Chase - argh).
Thanks again for your suggestions. Greatly appreciated.
(I suppose I was simply digging my heels in not wanting to crack open the spreadsheet program.)
Have a good holiday weekend! (Oh, right, self employed folks don't get days off - grin)
