How do I create an Item with multiple options and limit the options for each selection?

For example, I want to create a cookie box assortment. This would be for online orders.

At the highest level there are 3 SKUs, or maybe it's a variation of a single SKU ... anyway, the example would be that I sell 3 cookie boxes, a 4 pack, 6 pack, and a 12 pack. For each of these packs, I would like the option for the customer to select their assortment of cookies.

There will be 6 cookie options, but I need to make sure they don't select more options than the box allows (4,6, or 12).

I can't figure out how to do this ? Is it possible, and if so, can you please point me in the direction to create these items?

Thanks!

Hey @ScottHan.  Currently, this is not easily done using Square.  While we can specify and limit the number of modifiers (cookies) allowed for an item, we can’t specify quantities for modifiers (cookies).  So, for example, if someone wants 3 snickerdoodles, and one of their other cookie choices, you’d run into an issue.

Then ONLY way I know to get around this is pretty clunky, though it does work.  You’d have to create twelve modifier sets that are exactly the same.  Each would contain a list of all of your cookie options.  Then for a three pack, you attach three of these (Cookie1 through Cookie3).  For a four pack, you attach four of these (Cookie1 through Cookie4).  Etc.

Each of the modifier sets would be limited to one and only one customer choice.  Customers would use these to specify EACH cookie in their particular box.

Thankfully, since you only have 6 cookie options, this wouldn’t be outrageous to set up and maintain.  But it would take time, and it would look pretty strange to customers.  Still, like I said, it would work.
