Is there a way to assign discounts or tax exempt status to customers?
We sell to contractors at a discount. We also sell to several nonprofits regularly. In most cases, these customers are buying dozens of items at once. I'd like to be able to assign a contractor discount to the customer profile so that when they're added to the sale, every item is at their assigned discount. Similarly, I'd like to be able to assign sales tax-exempt status to our nonprofit customers so each item comes up without the tax. Is there a workaround or is it on the feature roadmap in the near future? Having to manually apply either scenario per item is time consuming and can be difficult when we are busy.
Any way to do this? Selling to employees or other customers on a program discount might need this.

This is a great feature request! We're tracking a similar one in this thread.
Loyalty points are automatically assigned to customers to be redeemed, but not discounts at this time. It would still have to be manually applied.
However, you can have a specific discount associated with an item so that when you add it to the cart, it's an option to select that specific discount.
I'll make sure to update this thread if I hear anything about a feature like the one you've described being developed @agritekfence.

Thanks @isabelle , I appreciate it. It looks like my second question was combined with this but it is actually different. Is there or will there be a way to build a discount based on the cost of an item (vs. the price). Cost+10% for example. Thanks!

Meaning your unit price instead of sale price @agritekfence?

@isabelle that's correct. For example, our employees are allowed to buy products at our unit cost plus 10%.

Okay. Got it. We do not have a feature available like that as of right now @agritekfence. That's a great suggestion though and could be a great addition to Square for Retail products.
