Initial Deposit on Invoice in person
Hi I am using the Square Register with Square Retail
When a customer comes in the store and does an Invoice how do I collect the initial Deposit?
I setup the invoice, I set to request the initial deposit amount. But during this workflow, I never have the option to receive any money from the customer?
Also in the Invoice setting, I have selected send invoice immediately.
Just not sure why i do not have the option of adding the initial payment while the customer is standing in front of me.
any advice would be very helpful 2nd today using square.

Hey @jewelcam
Sort of a work around/couple extra steps as far as what I do in this situation with a deposit.
Once the invoice is sent to the customer, you will be able to click the 3dot menu next to. From there you can select "add payment: then record or charge using a payment method of their choice.

Can a detailed invoice be printed from the Square Register? I was able to print from the Desktop Dashboard. but it would be nice if my Salespeople could print it "if needed" from the Square Register. I know it will send them the detailed invoice to their cell phone or email, but sometimes we have people who only have a landline.

I don't think the register can print a detailed invoice. I tried from my store register and brought up a past invoice. I don't see a print option until I select Transaction Details. Then i can print a receipt, but it just prints on the only printer I have connected....a standard cash register tape receipt printer, so it looks like a store receipt.

I have used invoiced from my computer dashboard on squareup.com, but I have not used invoicing on my Register. When I'm back in the store I'll take a look and see if I can figure out some options and report back.

Checked on my register at the store, and I think @Minion 's workaround may be the best solution. I can create a new invoice and set the due date (immediately, 7 days, 30 days, etc.) so if they want to pay the full amount you can set it to immediate. But if you need them to be able to pay in installments, I think you'd set the timeframe to 7 days or longer, send the invoice, and then go back into your customer to take a payment on that invoice.

Yes, I can print from the register, but only to connected printers. and the only printer connected is my standard receipt roll printer, so the print comes out formatted like a regular store receipt with not much detail. I don't do many invoices, so I may not know exactly what i'm talking about LOL. I also have an option to email a receipt, but that doesnt show any more detail than the printed receipt.
