How do you enter the weight of an item in Square for Retail App?

When creating an item in the Square for Retail app I cannot find where to enter the weight of the item. This is needed to make it available on my webstore. I can log into desktop and do it but kind of defeats the purpose of the app.

Hi @shelyn.  For good of for ill, there are MANY pieces of information we can’t add when adding items through the POS app.  The online dashboard is the only way to be able to define everything about new items, and I doubt that will change.  This is because POS addition of items is not meant to cover all the bases, but to give us the ability to quickly add an item so we can complete a transaction that is missing an item.  Then it is expected that we will finish the full definition on the dashboard.  The POS item editor is also great for changing things on the fly — prices, adding variations, etc.  The purpose of this function in the POS apps was never to be a total solution to adding items.

Having said all of that, if you feel this strongly about it, you are welcome to head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request.  Square engineers and product teams will review it and if they feel like it is something that has enough use for the whole Square seller community they will add it to a future product roadmap.

But, for now, this is the way it is.  Just keep in mind that POS item editing is only for quick band-aid kinds of fixes, not for complete item catalog maintenance.  I know that’s not what you want to hear, but it is reality and it is how this functionality was designed.
