Applying Service charge in Square for retail

Hi, I cannot find any way to implement a service charge using square for retail on the square register or the square for retail app on iPad. Is this even possible?

At this time Service Charges on Square for Retail are considered a feature request. I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers' interest in your request.

 

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't help much at all honestly. This feature seems to be completely available on the free versions of the POS but not on the version we pay monthly on? That doesn't even make sense.

As many companies do, we have different development teams for each of our applications and while I completely understand your need for this feature, our team may have gotten different feedback from Sellers using Square Retail  when looking to add new feature (like this one here). Feature Requests exist so that different teams and Product Managers can be made aware of the interests and needs of our Sellers and are able to respond if this is possible or if its on the road and also track the urgency (the amount of Sellers interested) to develop a certain function. 

 

In simple words the team that worked on creating the "Service Charge" on Square Point of Sale is not the same team that works on creating features for Square for Retail.

I appreciate the reply but this is a super simple update that I have at least been waiting a year on now. I love Square, been with you guys over 10 years now but Im really starting to feel like Square for Retail and Square Customer support in general is being given up on 😞

I completely understand you. We are in a transition from focusing on promoting and empowering contactless and online sales (a shift we did due to the pandemic) to empowering in-person sales. Square is a COMPUTER.... become NEO and Cheat the system....

 

Create an Item called ' Service Charge ' if this has a fixed amount fill in the price, if not leave the price as the greyed out $o.oo price.  When you assign Service Charge to your customer at check out a pop up will ask you for the value. 

 

Then when you look at your receipts or financial you will  see how much you collected in Service Charge in the specified time frame.

Thanks for your input but your solution doesn't apply to my use case. I cant expect my staff to calculate the service charge on every single transaction x 200 transactions a day. I need a percentage based service charge that applies with the click of a button on the entire transaction.

I also though of trying a (-) discount trying to fool the system but Square only lets you do a (+) discount that they subtract from totals.  Sorry I was of no help thought it was a set $ amount not a % service charge.
