Alt Text now available as of 2024 on image in item product

My question is at the end of the following comment . . .The option to add "Alt Text" now appears after I add an image in an Item product. I click on image to "Edit" and the field appears. Search results like to have "alt text" to help identify it. Versus SEO doesn't care about "title tag". However when I download the image from my site, it downloads in a .web file type and I can't seem to see it's details/meta data.  Question: anyone know how to verify Alt Text works? How about forcing it to show in the image space on the website?

I stand corrected. Although "alt text" field is available when an image is added to an item, and is applied to it, it only shows up in the code on that same image outside the item page. For example, I added the same image to the category. And on the web page that shows categories with it's image.

  In conclusion, I need to rethink a unique image for "category" with a more general SEO to describe the category.
