Ability to add a NOTE or Comment to a transaction

Would be great to add a Note or Comment to transactions.

We make custom Candles and would be great if we can have Notes for when the Customer needs the item, colors, sizes etc that we can just type into a Note or Comment section.  Or maybe a Section where we can add notes that We called the person after the Transaction is completed.  Meaning we finished the project called customer and now the next day, did anyone call that customer, or did they call last week.   These would be my types of uses for this feature.  Here is a thread since 2016 asking for this feature:

Re: Ability to add a NOTE or Comment to a transaction - Status changed to: Not currently planned

Hey there, @Candlestore -

Thank you for bringing this over to the Ideate Board as a Feature Request.

At the moment, this isn't planned by our Product Team for Square for Retail. I appreciate you adding all of your business insight on why this would be extremely useful to your business.

We use the Square Retail app and it allows us to add a note to each transaction.

@DaltonDaily ;

Yes I can do that too for a Receipt, but what I meant was for taking orders to be completed or for a W.I.P.  I have customers that order an Item, they want it Red With Blue and White design or specific Text.  The order needs a Note and to be paid for when Picked Up in a week.   Now after I enter all this information The Blue Charge button is Highlighted but I can no longer Save The Cart for when the person comes to pick up the item in a week or so.  I would like this if I could Hit the charge button enter a Split amount for a Deposit, and then the rest when the customer Picks up the Item.  But once I get to the Blue Charge Button I have to take Full Payment at that point in time.  I also use Square for Retail paid version on Square Stands.  The way this process is, It works great for people in store that get a custom item while in store and pays for it before we start, but nothing for a Security Deposit and complete payment in the future with having a note print out for my custom candle maker.  Or am I missing something?

Even in my actual first post I stated about making a note on if the customer was called or not,  once you add the note to the transaction it has to be completed.  You can not save it to complete later with the note like you can with a Saved Cart.

I found a thread back from 2020 but am unable to find any current answers. Is there some way I can add a note to an already completed transaction? All our stock is paired with item codes - If for some reason an item code is unavailable or forgotten, and my sales assistants put through a transaction without an item code for the sake of a sale, I need the ability to then apply the item code after the transaction has been made. Is this possible? Or is there another way around? Appreciate any tips/tricks.

Hi @giorgiabrown - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋

At this time, the ability to add a note to a completed transaction is a feature request. I went ahead and merged your post to an existing thread where other Square Sellers have discussed this feature request as well. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

We use Square to sell custom cakes and often need to make a note of a customer request made after the order is placed. Having an editable notes field in the order would mean fewer mistakes, fewer chargebacks, and more business for us AND for Square. Please add this feature
