tranfers not maching reports

Occationally the transfers don't mach and I can always figure out why. It's usually one transaction getting tranfered on the next sales day's deposit. For the last couple of week, about half the tranfers are not matching no matter how I add things up. Example-a $25 gift card was bought online on a day we were closed. The report shows $25-$1.03(fee) net $23.97 tranfer. The actual tranfer was for $23.34.  I've checked the transfer details and only one has a split day with only a small abount added to the next transfer. I'm baffled. Any help?

I am wondering which report your are looking at, and also does it show the Fee for Loading a Gift Card?  I am wondering if the New Loading fee for Gift Cards is throwing your numbers off.  I am not sure where Square shows these fees yet since they should be sepparate from other fees for accounting purposes.

Here is more about Squares Gift Card Fees:

https://squareup.com/us/en/gift-cards/pricing

2.5% of $25 would be .625 dollars or 63 cents because Square will be rounding up.

23.97-23.34=.63 or the 63 cent loading fee.

Now you need to find the report that shows the Loading fee for Gift Cards.

Hope this helps.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for the best answer! I had no idea about the new loading fees. Are we supposed to learn these things by osmosis?

I've attached a report that shows a gift card sale on a day we were closed. It shows a net total of $23.97 but only $23.34 made it to the bank. No where does it show the loading fee and I can't find a report stating this fee. Please don't make me do math.

Out of twelve days, seven have wonky transfers and all but one have gift card sales.

Wish square was more user friendly.

Cheer-Kim

ps. are you the next Mike Kittredge?

Since this was a Day you were closed, I would try looking at a csv file of your Online sales for that transaction.  I do not use Square Online for my website so I am not sure where to look for that transaction or to look for the Gift Card loading fee.  That would be a question for Square support.  Now if this was a in store sale of a gift card I would sugest looking at your Transactions Csv files.... there are 3, Transactions, Transactions Items, Transaction Summary.   I would belive the new CC loading fee would be listed there but not sure if that would show as just FEES.   Square just started these Loading Fees I believe either the end of Febuary or begining of March.

Look on your Square Dashboard - Transactions and then select a date or date range you had Gift Card sales for.  Then export a Transactions CSV file and open it in Google Sheets or other spreadsheet application.  Now since I do not use Square Online channels so I am not sure if this transactions show Square POS and Square Online sales.

Also Math is FUN Kim  🙂   But you need the numbers to figure out the fees and Square should provide them Somewhere but not sure which group is in charge of this.

@MayaP - Do you know who would do reporting of Gift card sales and where the New Loading fees would show in the dash board or which CSV file would show the New Loading Fees square charges for Gift Card sales?  Think we figured out that is the discrepencies in the Transfers.  Square would have to report somewhere what these fees are so we can verify them with our Accounting Packages and Bank Reconciliations.  Any help locating someone that could point us in the correct directions for these new fees locations in the Square Dashboard or in a CSV export would be appreciated.
