adding items to favorites in square terminal

How do I add items in the Square Terminal to favorites? Some of my items already appear as favorites, but I don't know how to add from my item list. Also, some pictures will automatically appear, as in Hamburger, French Fries. But how can I get a picture of a Chicken Quesadilla for example?

Also, since we are a non-profit, we often off free items to the clergy, I found out how to do a 100% discount, but when tendering, it says must be $1.00 minimum.

Am I better off setting up a COMP, and if so, how?

thanks!

Good Afternoon @COGatConnoq,

I'm happy to assist!

To add items to your favorites from the checkout screen, simply look for the boxes with a plus sign. You can add items directly from there. For more detailed instructions, please refer to this thread.

Regarding the 100% discount, it requires the item to have a price associated with it for the discount to be applied.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Thanks! I actually figured favorites out but: whenever I updated favs on one Terminal, the other two synced up. So in order to prevent that I was told by Square support I had to create more locations. I did that and it allows me to maintain unique favorites across Terminals. This seems like a major flaw, since I'm sure businesses like to have different favorites depending on the cashier's function. Was there a better (easier) way?

Hi again @COGatConnoq, just jumping in to assist!

Thanks for letting us know—I see what you're asking now. 🙂 At the moment, the workaround our team provided is still the best option to achieve what you're looking for. Since your item grid settings are tied to a location on your Square account (not the device), the only way around this that I'm aware of is to create different locations that can be logged into on different devices. This setup has become quite common for venues with multiple POS stations (I’ve seen location names like Rooftop, Balcony, Main Floor, etc.).

I hope that all makes sense and adds a bit more context! If we can help with anything else in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us.
