Tips Suggestions based on total bill (not post-discounts)

Hi -when using the tip suggestions feature the suggestions are being calculated after discounts are given (or after a gift card amount is applied). This is negatively impacting the income of staff.

It would be helpful if the tip suggestions were calculated based on the total purchase price (prior to discounts being applied or gift cards being used for payment). Currently, staff have to nicely let customers know that if they'd like to customize their tip based on the original total that they can do so by selecting the Customize button. Some staff feel awkward doing this and are not being tipped based upon the full service that they have provided.

This is something that absolutely needs to be fixed.  I used Square for years with a nonprofit that I setup, and transitioning into a service-based industry, I cannot in good conscience bring this into my new business knowing that my front-line staff could be slighted when other platforms allow me to ask for tip on the subtotal amount!!!

Give me a break, square is acting like they give a **bleep**. This has been an issue for years, there are MULTIPLE threads about this, people loose so much money over it and nobody does anything. Stop placating and pretending and act, square.

@_Violet @MayaP  Any progress on this issue? We're incredibly tired and annoyed of having to tell customers that "tip suggestions shown are based on the discounted price."  A lot of customers don't even understand what we're telling them! Please, please, please spend time on developing something that's actually needed instead of useless features that nobody asked for like "Scan to pay".

SQUARE TEAM -- THIS IS A GIGANTIC ISSUE !

SINCE SWITCHING TO SQUARE MY EMPLOYEES TIPS HAVE DROPPED BY 5-9%, EVERY DAY, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE TIPPING ON THE DISCOUNTED PRICES.

It makes it really hard to have them feel good about this new system we're using. It makes it hard for me to feel good about it!!

You clearly already have the technology to do this because you do it with the pre/post tax amount! In making sure that I wasn't posting a new thread about this, I've seen threads dating back to 2017 asking for this by SO MANY of your customers. I would guess many of them have left Square by now. 

PLEASE DON'T MAKE US THE ENEMIES OF OUR EMPLOYEES - LET THEM GET THE TIPS THEY SHOULD EARN!!

Would like to give this one a bump.

My Team Members are requesting this, especially when people use their loyalty points to drop a big bill down to a low bill. They have to awkwardly tell the customer that the tip options are based on the discounted amount and most of the team members are not comfortable doing that, they would prefer the tip options be defaulted on the gross total.
