Stock updates not reflected on POS

Is there a way to have remaining items displayed on the POS update when I update the stock from the dashboard?

It appears that I need to adjust stock in the dashboard and also go into the Square for Restaurants app and track remaining items for each item as well.

I would like to be able to do both at one time.

Also, related, is there a way to edit permissions so that servers cannot adjust items remaining?

Great questions, @Rp3.

As long as you are logged into the same Square account and location it should be showing and updating the same item library from the online Square Dashboard that you are seeing in your POS.

As for permissions, you can set up permissions for team members in the Square for Restaurants app, which should let you control whether or not servers can update inventory. That said, it may prevent servers from doing other tasks like checking out so it might not be a viable option for you.

This answer is misinformed.

Stock/inventory and remaining items are different things in Square.

I use Square for Restaurants.

Changing stock/inventory in the Dashboard does not change items remaining in the POS.

Ex. you can set coke stock to 0 in dashboard and you will still be able to order as many cokes as you want in the POS.

If this is a bug, it has been a bug for over a year at least. I doubt this is just a bug.

Also, there is no permission to prevent employees from modifying "remaining items" which, to be clear, is not the same thing as stock or inventory. Although I wish it were.

Sorry @Rp3!

I think we misunderstood your question.

The feature request you're referring to is the one you commented on the thread of here. While stock levels should be the same for a location across the Dashboard and POS, I can confirm that we do allow our sellers to sell items with zero stock both on the Dashboard and POS. We do not restrict our sellers from selling items that are out of stock, just in case they haven't updated their inventory, we do not want to prevent them from making a sale. Keep an eye out on this thread for any updates on the development of a feature that allows you to disable the selling of out of stock items.

Thanks for your time, and sorry for the confusion!
