Should I do Shifts Plus or Restaurant Plus? (coffee shop)

Hey all!

Since free tip pooling is going away Feb 1, I need to make a decision between Shifts Plus for $35'ish (per employee fee) or Restaurants Plus for $60.

I've got a coffee shop (coffee + counter sales of baked goods) and I've been using the basic restaurant and shifts subscriptions for several years. The only thing I "need" is the tip pooling feature. I'm trying to decide if Restaurants Plus is worth the extra $25 for my use case.

After looking at the Restaurants Plus features, here's the only things that look maybe-helpful;

  • advanced POS functions
  • more reporting features
  • closing procedures

Nothing else is looking like a "need" or want.

Does anyone with a similar business have any experience/comments/insight that would be helpful?

Thanks!

Bryce

Square Champion

@thecreamerymm Hey!! We are a coffee shop that offers pastries as wel! We actually don't use square for restaurants. It had a lot of great features but seemed a little much for what we have going on. We have a Square register and use square point of sale and it works amazing for us. We have a team plus subscription, but we also use square payroll after having issues with our previous payroll system and doing extensive research, square was less expensive and did everything our other payroll system did without us having to calculate and submit the hours. so It makes sense for us to use team plus.

With you using square for restaurants maybe it is a better deal for you to upgrade that to plus? Again, you would be unlocking other features you probably don't necessarily need, but if it's less expensive in the long run than team plus and doesn't mess with the way you run business then I say go for it!

If you have any other questions I would love to chat them out with you!

Cheers!
