Orders not showing up

We are using the iOS POS app on a few iPads (not the restaurant app). When one device takes an order, the other devices do not see the order. They do see the transaction, so we know the data is synced to the cloud. The online dashboard also behaves the same (shows the transaction but not the order).

Is this a bug, or some configuration we have to do?

Thanks

@pizzammagic do you have Square for Restaurants? How is the order placed on the Square Register?

I have a feeling this is a feature request, because the Square Dashboard will only display orders that are placed online for pickup or delivery. Also, open tickets are the only shared features on multiple registers/iPads. Are open tickets what you are using to place the orders?

Are you trying to get the other devices to see the order for preparation/fulfillment?

How many other devices do you need to see the order?

Thanks!

We have a couple of ipads and a square a POS device.

An order on any device (all ipads and POS device) will only show up on that device that created it, but not on other devices.

Those orders do not show up on the web, the squareup dashboard orders web page (https://squareup.com/dashboard/orders/overview).

Transactions show up in all cases on all devices.

@pizzammagic this could be a settings issue, but are you wanting the online orders to print on multiple stations?  If so, you can change that in settings. Can you go to the iPad(s) that are not showing/printing the orders and set up a printer station to print Online Order Tickets? This should help fix your issue if you are wanting to have these stations set up.

Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the issue. Where are the orders originating from?

This is part of the issue, but the real issue is data loss.

Orders placed on register and ipad are lost from the system for good. We need them for variety of things, not just printing.

As far as printing, we have a complicated multi station setup for the printers, and we don't want to replicate it on every device.

Example:

Server goes to the square register and places an order.

Administrator goes to the squareup dashboard orders https://squareup.com/dashboard/orders/overview

Expected: Dashboard should show the order.

Actual: The order does not show up in the dashboard.

The transaction does show up in https://squareup.com/dashboard/sales/transactions, and we can see the payment.

Ahhhh, I see what you're talking about - the cool new Orders Queue that Square put inside the online dashboard.

If you can't get it figured out, let us know - we're an official Square Partner and we make Mobile Apps and have a new Kiosk feature that would allow Servers to enter orders or even walk around and enter the order from anywhere in your location (from a mobile phone or tablet) and those orders push straight to the very same Order Queue page you're talking about.

Thanks!

Pre-Order sounds like something we (and every bakery) need. We need to get phone-in orders and in-person orders into the Sqaure Orders Queue. And maybe to a KDS (inspired by your web site). We mainly take orders to be picked up in the next few days, not for immediate pickup. But our Square POS has no means of handling this except saved tickets, which does not work.

Would it be possible to run your app on our POS so the counter person can just switch to it to take an order, then have it show up in the Square POS app and print on the printer?

Square now has the option to take "in person" orders on the POS. It only works if they prepay. It also prints a ticket for the order' and puts it in the order screen with the online orders. I can get a reference list by exporting orders a use a few macros to make the report useful. Then we print out every order straight from the orders screen, each one is a full sheet of paper' but it has all of the pertinent information. On the day the order is due (mostly farmers markets) the order gets bagged and the sheet is stapled to the bag. This is our everyday routine. For holidays it's a whole nother kettle of fish. OrderNova mat be the solution.  As for updating online stuff, I have an employee (my son) handling all that now, I have to make pies.
