A question for anyone out here, I received an email for an app called Orda for square. It basically says that it creates an app in the google play store and the iphone app store that is branded with my logo etc.... Basically my own phone app. It uses square and my online ordering to run the app but makes the user interface more like a standard phone app. Has anyone used this or have experience with this. It requires basically full access to square and all my customers info etc.... It sounds interesting but I'm not quite sure. Thanks in advance for any info or advice!
Okay, just heard back. Can confirm that we do have a partnership with Newline and their product is Orda (they also have another solution called BumpKDS, which is why the emails are similar).
We reached out to Newline with our concerns about how this may be confusing for our sellers and they said that they have immediately added a clear disclaimer that will go in future emails to state they are a third-party app for Square. They also plan to adjust their domain in the future, but that won't be immediate.
Apologies for any confusion and thanks for surfacing @Andrew6 @MikeWilbanks @pessosices.
I am wondering the same thing. It sounded good but when it asked for full access to my customer data I decided to call Square. They say they do not have a partnership with Orda and have never heard of them. If you look on the Orda website it has businesses as references. I contacted one of them and their app is not with Orda and they have not heard of them. Something is fishy. I sent Orda a message to ask someone to call me. I will post here if there is anything interesting to add.

I got the same email and it really is strange how they got our emails & that they actually don't seem to have any partnership with square despite claiming that they do.
Any insights / can y'all look into this,
Interesting... @Andrew6 @MikeWilbanks @pessosices. I wonder if this is a phishing email. This is the only resource I could find.
Can you provide the sender email address?
I'll redact it from the Community once I receive it! Just want to see if it's coming from a squareup.com email address.
Thats the one.
I've gotten another one in the past from info@marketingforsquare.com
That one was promoting BumpKDS

Just reached out to our Partnerships Team here at Square. Looks like a lot of other sellers have called in very confused by the @marketingforsquare.com handle.
I saw that 13 days ago we were going to reach out to them to stop emailing our sellers from that handle - but I'm not sure what the status of that is. I will circle back when I hear from Partnerships. Sorry about this and thanks for flagging @MikeWilbanks and @pessosices.

Thanks for the quick work on this @isabelle !
Thank you for being an amazing advocate for us and pushing to make things better!
Any insight as to how they got our emails and how we can opt out of marketing like this in the future?
That's a very good question. Just asked our Newline partner manager @pessosices. Will get back to you!
So, is this a safe thing for us to do? My email already had the disclaimer that said they are a 3rd party developer but can I trust them. I assume that Square vets their partners. When you start to sign up it askes for their app to have access to Square. Will that be safe for my customers credit card information?
Yes @MikeWilbanks. Newline/Ora is an approved third-party app by Square, but I would suggest contacting them directly before signing up for their services, just to make sure it's a good fit for your business.
The partnership manager doesn't know how they got the seller emails. I am trying to dig deeper to see how that would've happened or if that's information we offer to our partners. The best way for sellers to opt out would be to directly ask Newline/Orda to exclude you from any future emails @pessosices. Sorry about that.
The email alias should be changed shortly.
I have the app for my smoothie bar! It works great, they are new company and need your data so it easily integrates with Square 🙂 They pull all your images from your online store and that gets mirrored on the app. It also integrates with Square loyalty. Pretty dope app.
I have downloaded the app and signed up, but I am having issues with the square menu items that are only available during certain hours. Like on the square site it will not let customers order based on what time it is for certain items but the app lets them order anytime.
Welcome to the Community, @Thebullshack -
Thank you for coming here for your questions.
A couple of follow-ups I want to ask to get a better picture on the issue you're having:
- Are you using a Restaurant subscription or app on your device?
- If so, do you have certain menus set up?
- What kind of timeframe do you have on those items?
- Is it all items or certain ones?
I will keep an eye out for your reply👀.
