Multiple Modifier Sets on an Item - Controlling the display order of the modifier sets

Hi. I have a simple example in our weebly on-line store which is synched to our square account. My item is a pizza. My first modifier set is the type of pizza and has 3 options (magherita, pepperoni, kale/greek olives/feta) where customer must choose one. My second modifier is the option of whether they don't want mozzarella cheese or feta cheese.

For the item in our on-line store, I would like for the "Pizza type" to be displayed first and then "Pizza option" listed second. But "Pizza option" is always displayed first. I test whether the order is simply controlled by alphabetic sort or by when the modifier set was created. But neither seems to make a difference.

Here is it in our store

Wondering if anyone has encountered same issue and found way to resolve it.

Many thanks,

Pete

Hey @SoMa-BBQ

This is definitely an issue that a lot of sellers have had.

Here's a couple of things you can try:

1. Number your Modifier Groups in the order that you want them. So 1. Pizza Type, 2. Pizza Option

2. If you go into your Online Store Dashboard (Weebly), go to Items, and find & click on the item that you want to edit. Scroll down to the Modifier Section. There you'll see the little 3 Line Icon on the left side of each modifier group that you'll be able to drag into the order that you'd like.

Hopefully one or both of those would fix it for ya!

Update on this one.

So I tried #1 to number the modifier groups: 1. Pizza type; 2. Pizza options. As you can see below, no luck on that one. Ugh.

I then went to suggestion #2 which was to modify the item in Weebly on-line store. However, when I go there, there are no items in the "Item Library". I believe this is because we use Square Sync. This is intentional on our part as we really want to be able to leverage all the Square functionality and not have disconnects with Weebly. Does this make sense to you @pessosices.

Hmmm. So I still have to figure this out.

Hmm, dang.

The items SHOULD still show up in your Items list on the Online Store Dashboard. We use Square Sync too, and they show up.
That's weird.

Another option is instead of modifier group, turn Pizza Type into Variations.

It won't have the header "Pizza Type" instead it will just say "Choose One", but I think it will force it to be First in order.

That's what we ended up doing.

Let me know!

Thanks will look more into Square Sync.

Funny we used to have it as a variation. Not wanting to run out now that we allow use all on-line ordering, it didn't make sense for us to have inventory on the three different pizza variations since it is really how much dough we have prepared that determines # of pizzas we do. They can really be done in any combination of the variations. Thats the key reason we went to modifiers as it better models this.

Thx again.

@SoMa-BBQ That definitely makes sense

Another thing you can try is deleting both modifier groups and re-creating them in different orders and see if that affects the order they appear.

Can you post a screenshot of your Items Tab in your Online Store Dashboard?

I want to see what's happening there that your items aren't showing up.

Hi @pessosices .

Yeah I actually tried deleting one of the modifiers and recreating thinking it would then be second. But didn't work. Will try deleting both and adding them in the order I want.

Here is screenshot of Item Library in my Weebly on-line store.

In contrast, you can see the on-line store published via curbsidewithlove.com/soma.

Thx

Iiiiinteresting.

What browser are you using?

Do you have any ad-blockers or anything?

I feel like items totally should be showing up there.

Google chrome. Really pretty default setup. And you can see in my store I do have items. And it does work well that we we make changes to square they do trickle thru via the sync. Which I like a lot. Always assumed the lack of anything on this screen meant I had not customized any items for Weebly.

Interesting - I use the Square Sync too, but the items also show up in my Items tab on the Online Store Dashboard. That's where I can assign if something is Shipping/Pickup and what Category the are (categories don't sync over)

Maybe if you go through the Store Editor, then go to your Item Section there, and edit each item, you'll find that modifier section to change the order.

So that worked. I was able to edit the item in the store editor.

I also did "Manage Modifiers" to change the name back to without numbers - as a small test to watch it synch back to Square item modifiers. I have been really cautious about editing any item info in store editor. I also don't use categories there since I don't want to have to manage categories in two places.

Here is new properly ordered pizza! Many thanks @pessosices  for your help.
