Mandatory food order with QR code in person ordering

I am a cocktail bar based in NYC and just registered for Square online contact free QR code in person ordering. Based on NYC guidelines, customers must order a food item with their alcoholic beverage. Is it possible to implement a mandatory food order where the customer's order cannot be fulfilled or checked out unless they add a food item?

@RebelAllen Thanks for reaching out. Right now, there is not a way to force an item purchase with online orders. You can always have a pop up on your online store stating this is a requirement, and then if a drink is purchased without a food order, then you can always decline the order.

I can definitely see how useful this would be for other sellers so I will pass the feedback forward.

We're in NYC, in the same position and it's prompted us to use a different service just to do the QR code for in-person ordering. It's really a shame because we'd rather keep it simpler and use one thing with Square, especially since you guys are testing the beta feature of being able to keep tabs open with QR self serve, which is also a must for us. Bummed, but will consider switching over if you get the mandatory item on order thing figured out. I don't see the mandatory item going away anytime soon, as clearly the original post was 9/29 and it's almost 2 months later
