Is it possible to automatically add the name of the customers on the receipt with the new Stand?

I am the owner of a Pastry and coffee shop. We changed the square stand and took the new one recently. Before, we were able to have the name of the customer on each credit card receipt. It was helpful to call the customer when his coffee is ready. How can we add the name on the receipt with the new stand?

Hi @AudeB! It sounds like you have the new Square Register so your customers are now dipping their card in the customer display or paying by tap using contactless payments like Apple Pay. With theses payment types Square isn't able to access the customer name. Square is only able to read the customer name when you swipe the magnetic strip of the card through the customer display, through the (white) Square Stand, or a magstripe reader.

 

But you can still collect a customer's name using Open Tickets. You can swipe a card to open a ticket and the name on the card will be added to the ticket, or manually type in a name. You can even print a ticket to give to the customer. Keep in mind the customer won't be charged when you swipe their card - you still have to add items to the sale and tap Charge so they can dip/tap to complete the payment.
