How do you Track Remaining Items in the redesigned Restaurant POS for menu items?

We use the Track Remaining Items option for our menu items in the Restaurant POS today. I am testing out the redesigned version and I see a manage stock option, but it requires that I enter inventory numbers for each Variation of a menu item (it isn't available at the menu item level). I only want 1 roll-up number for a menu item, not broken out by Variation.

I, too, am questioning this.  We use the option to track inventory on a daily basis - specifically our daily specials.   This stops us from overselling an item - the server does not need to go back to the table and apologize the item is no longer available.  It is extremely helpful to see that we only have 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of a particular item available. Would be very disappointed if this feature is gone.

Why would they have removed this??! They made it overly complicated to track this now. We are a food truck and do not keep total inventory numbers of sandwiches as it's hard to do. But when we knew we had less than 10 of something we would use that feature to ensure things were not oversold. Now you have to "receive inventory" to keep track. Why change something that worked well? So frustrating.

I'm really disappointed that this feature doesn't seem to work anymore. It was one of the big reasons I tried the Square for Restaurant trial. Several other features don't seem to work, either. And the customer supports is atrocious.
