How do I accept gift cards on iPad with Square for Restaurants and Square Reader?

I have and iPad with Square for Restaurants installed on it and a Square Reader connected to it.  

I want to be able to accept gift card payments from this device but the option is not available from the payment screen.  I would like to accept a physical gift card by scanning the barcode with the iPad camera as well as manually enter in digital gift card account numbers, if needed.

I found a 2023 post (https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Square-for-Restaurants/How-can-I-accept-other-payment-types-in-Sq...) indicating that I would need to download the Square POS app and then make the change from there.  After that I would need to force close Square for Restaurants on the iPad.  Only then would Gift Cards be an option when I open it back up and log back in.

Making the change in Square POS did make the Gift Cards button appear in Square POS but it did NOT make the change on the iPad using Square for Restaurants.  It's been 15+ minutes since I made the change and I have force closed the app multiple times and even rebooted the iPad.

I am in the USA if that matters.

What do I need to do to accept Gift Card payments from this iPad?
