Creating Items on POS in Square for Restaurants

I'm looking at the comparison chart between Square POS, Restaurants Free, and Restaurants Plus. It has only a check for "Item Creation on the POS" in the Square POS column.

When we have new seasonal beers delivered, I need the bartender to create a new item in the register using the POS in order to start selling it. 

 

Is it correct to assume that if I switch to Square for Restaurants, they will no longer be able to do this?

Hi @Joules you are correct. All item/menu changes take place on the Square Dashboard. 

 

To make any changes to your menus, log into your Square Dashboard.

  1. From your Square Dashboard, tap Home > Menus.
  2. Select the menu you’d like to update.
  3. To add additional groups or items, select the Add to Menu button.
  4. To remove items, click the three blue dots on the item and select Remove.
  5. Tap Save.

@Joules Sorry came across this old thread and you may have already figured out a work around to this.

 

What we have done is keep a copy of the POS app on the ipad and can swap to that app and log in to edit item catalog and then swap back to the restaurant app.  Hope this helps.
