Can you use Restaurant free with the handheld terminal?

Can you use Restaurant free with the handheld terminal? When speaking to square support line she pushed me to the handheld terminal. When I went to purchase it, it was compared to the register. Showing that it was not compatible with the restaurant free pos. Can this be confirmed?

I bought the handheld and so far it cannot be used for anything!  I bought a whole suite from Square to get my quick serve up and running . . . fail.
