When someone purchases an e-gift certificate for one of my clients via my Square web portal it will show on my terminal as a form of paymet option. When someone is at my office and purchases an e-gift certificate and I use the terminal to take their payment for the gift it doesn't show in the future as an option when the receiver wants to use it. It is in an email they receive, I don't have the certificate number and it's all so inconvenient that they then have to get the number to me or stand there looking through their email for it.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to have all the e-gift certificates show on my terminal? Those sold online and those sold at the terminal.

Troubleshooting
when an e-gift card is purchased online the recipient is added and tied to the card and that is why it will show up as an option. when a person purchases an e-gift card in person it never asks for a recipient so there is no way for the card to be associated with a recipient. It only ever asks for "your email address" which the customer would likely put in their email, not the recipients.

Thank you for your reply. Very helpful. Seems there should be a better way or an easy option for the receiver's information to be entered manually. It would make it much easier for both the merchant and the customer.
Do you ever get an answer to this? I'm struggling with this as well.

Hello @PottersCottageK !
Have you reviewed @VanKalkerFarms answer above?
It was marked as best answer to this question.
Whether an e-gift card is purchased online or in person, the customer will receive an email with the gift card number and a QR code. You can scan the QR code they received when using the e-gift card as a payment method.
If you have further questions, let me know!

What happens when the customer misplaces or no longer has access to that email for whatever reason? How do I charge against the purchased e-gift card? I still contend that giftcard integration could be way better.

We are struggling with the same thing! We have the Square Register with Retail POS and there is no where for us to redeem an e-gift card. Are we losing our minds or is this option not available for Square Retail POS? There is no payment method to select when redeeming an e-gift card. We had called Customer Service and the customer service rep said that the customer can only redeem online. Really?! How can the customer purchase from our register but can't redeem? Our customer came in with the bar code on her phone that she had ordered online. We tried scanning and nothing happened. We printed if off of our office printer and then we were able to scan and the register was able to take off the amount. There should also be a way for us to print off of our register the actual e-gift card order.
Please send help! Thank you!
