My staff can see the schedule of other employees in their online app they use to view their schedule. They are always complaining when someone gets more hours than them. Is there is a way to make it so each employee only sees their schedule and not the rest of the staff?
Hey @user100101001. I’m sorry to hear that your team is behaving this way. But I guess it happens. Still I’m thankful that I’ve not had to deal with that kind of pettiness yet because I would have not been nearly as patient as you. Ha. Anyway…. Unfortunately, this is not currently possible. The scheduling portion of Square Team is set up to mimic the old way of printing a schedule and posting it on the wall. Even with that, employees would see other employees’ schedules, though.
Anyway, I’d normally recommend that you head to the Square App Marketplace and look for a third-party scheduling solution that allowed this. But the few I looked at don’t have that capability, either. If you want to, you can head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to the Staff & Payroll Team for them to review and make a decision about. But otherwise, other than sitting your team down and setting them straight about this, I can’t think of any other short-term solution other than not allowing use of the Team App at all. That way, your employees would only get an email or text about their schedules (and no one else’s) as they already do now. Ugh.
If my answer resolves your issue, please take a minute to mark it as Best Answer. That helps people who find this thread in the future.

@Wrifton That does not exist yet. And I’ve seen no announcements about it coming, nor is there a current beta test. Maybe a Square moderator will weigh in, but don’t hold your breath. Square does not share their product roadmap plans, and we usually hear about new features when they are rolled out or when a beta test is enrolling testers. Normally, I’d tell you to go to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request but I would assume that @user100101001 already did so. You can go there and look and if they did you can add your support. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait. I’m sorry you’re getting this kind of flack from your employees.

Hi @Wrifton can you add any more detail re why it's valuable to restrict team members from seeing each other's shfits?
There is nothing definitively planned at the moment but a few comments / questions:
1. There are a few features that probably wouldn't be compatible with such a setting (e.g. shift trades). Do you see any issue with that?
2. I assume your managers/admins would obviously still need to see the entire schedule? But it would be any team members without the ability to manage the schedule could only see their own shifts?
thanks!
Yes, managers/admins can see everyone's shifts in the desktop dashboard, but the employees don't need to see each other's schedule in the app they log into. The app login should be their information only - hours, request time off, change their info, request edit to their timecards, etc. There is no benefit, that I can tell, for staff to see all other team member schedules. If an establishment wants everyone to see the whole schedule they can post it, or toggle this feature off, but I think many restaurants would like staff to see their own upcoming schedule.
This will eliminate potential harm being done to an employee, because another employee told someone asking at the front counter what time they came in for their next shift or what time they are off. This would also reduce staff complaining that someone got more hours than them this week.
I know it would be great for us, but maybe not for enough others to consider the option.

@Wrifton I have a quick question. Do you NOT use the Team App to allow your employees to trade shifts of to cover shifts for another team member? Because, if you do, and if Square hides other team member’s shifts, you would lose this ability and you would become responsible to handle all shift trades and covers manually. In my case, this would be a severe problem as it is so nice not to have to be bothered by these things.
I understand if you don’t mind doing this. But I did want to strongly point out a potential drawback to doing what you ask.

I would like the option for staff to see other shifts only with the same job types as they have, but not the shifts for a job that they can't trade with because it's not theirs.
eg A bartender can't swap with a cook so I'd rather Bartenders can only see shifts for Bartenders, and Cooks can only see shifts for Cooks and Cleaners can only see shifts for cleaner.

I have the opposite problem. My staff can only see their schedule and I would like for them to see the entire schedule. We do use the teams app. How can I change it so that they see the entire teams schedule for the week?

Hi @FlaGirl - what version of the team app are you using? You should have the ability to filter by `My Shifts Only` or uncheck it to see the full schedule.
