How to handle raises that start mid pay period?

How do we handle raises that happen mid pay period? Back when I used to do payroll for a small government we were able split the payroll period if raises or increases happened mid pay period.

the only thing that I am thinking is to over-ride the hours worked and figure it all out manually... any other ideas?

@DinaLRosenberg Just go to the time cards for the days that were at the old rate or new whichever and you can manually change the pay rate for that day and save it.  It will only affect the pay for that day.

Otherwise you could just do another job and assign them to the job at the old pay rate yada yada.  But editing the time cards would be easiest.  I know when I change an employee's pay rate it doesn't affect the time cards that are already logged.
