Upon opening Square this morning, an update ran without a prompt and now my entire system is not working. I cannot open any of my 4 registers, and all apps are broken. Are there known issues with a recent update that has broken the registers/apps?
Hi @cphevents I’m sorry you are having some issues with an update.
we have our square register set to update automatically at 3am. Came into the shop this morning and haven’t had any issues today.
I would suggest a factory reset on your register.
I learned from someone on the square team that the customer facing display does not update with the square register and that you need to factory reset your register on occasion for all updates to fully take effect.
I’m saying that just to give you assurance that factory resetting your device is safe.
We were having issues with our customer facing display and since factory reset we have not had any issues.
The only other thing about a factory reset is you will need to make sure you go into your settings and turn on all your add ins you use, for us cash management was something we forgot to turn back on, and going into our printer settings and making sure our printer was set up exactly how we wanted it!!

It seems that the updates from the last month or so have really broken a lot of things that have been working perfectly for us for years. I wish the Square team would step it up with fix updates and patches! I can't believe that these recent issues are taking as long as they are to get fixed. It's basically unacceptable.

@Donuts it is no fun having technical issues. I see your icon has a beta symbol next to it. Make sure you are not currently part of any betas and that you get your systems out of beta mode if you are having bugs and issues, it could be that.
