Customer screen doesnt tell people they can remove their card

I think at some point Square had an update and now when people dip their cards the customer screen doesn't tell them to take their card out but it tells the cashier. We have had an overwhelming number of people accidentally leaving their cards because they are not told when they can take their card out by the register. I have tried telling my associates that they can tell customers when to remove their card but customers dont listen to us because every other card reader ever tells people when to remove their card. Please release a new update to fix this!

1) What app version are you on? 

 

2) When did this start? 

 

 

In the meantime, please continue informing your associates to verbally prompt customers when they can remove their cards. I'll keep you updated on any developments regarding this issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Thanks, I am not sure when this started as I am not often on the customer side of things but we noticed an increased number of cards left behind probably starting about two months ago. As far as I can tell we are on the most recent update as we are on the square register and I turned on auto updates when we got started but I cant find that info now. After watching the customer display a little more closely I noticed that it does say on the receipt option screen to remove cards but that screen is already overwhelming to customers so they don't see it then. It also says it after they select a receipt but they are already leaving the register as soon as they select their receipt option. I am fairly certain it used to pop up at the same time as it does on the cashiers side. Customers are watching the screen then waiting for the message that they can remove their card but as soon as the receipt option pops up they get overwhelmed.
