Can you set a custom device code or do you have to use the one that is assigned? I know how to reset the device code but it does not give me an option to customize the code.

The Device Code is a 12 or 16 digit character set to log the Device into your account.
Your looking for a Passcode. That would be a 4 digit Pin you can assign to log in a Team Member or Employee to track hours or sales. 8356-add-and-manage-team-members
Here is more about Team Members and at the bottom of the page are links to assign Passcodes and different ways to use them.

I do not think you can create a Device code only Square can create one. I am guessing this because if 2 people create the same device code how would Square know which company is assigned the device code? I know it sounds like that will not happen but 2 people also hit magor lotteries with the exact same numbers. The chance is slim but there is still a chance. By Square assigning them, Square can make settings not to duplicate 2 Device codes currently in use.

Maybe I'm using the wrong term. Is there a way to set a four digit code that can be used to long into the register? I work at another location that uses Square and we have a four digit code we can use to log in.
