@SullivanMercant Welcome to the community. Are you using the new Square stand USB-C version? If so I have had this problem since they have came out. Our built in readers, scanner, and printer wont work. What is happening to us is we put the iPad in that stand and launch the app, for some reason it won't connect to the stand that way. What you have to do is launch the POS on the iPad first let it load, then insert it into the stand, everything will work then.
I have also found out that the new stand is made for the Ipad and ipad Pro there is a slight difference in size and it you bump it in the stand sometimes it looses connection. There is an adapter that comes with the stand that attaches to the indention where the camera is located but it isn't very good.
