Square & BigCommerce? Will This Be Happening Again?

Hello, we switched over to BigCommerce about a year ago and one of the selling points to us was a native app from Square to connect/sync inventory between our brick & mortar and the BigCommerce store. But unfortunately, as many know, Square deprecated it's native app and we have had to use 3rd party apps like SkuIQ to try to replicate. Does anyone know if Square is planning on releasing a new/updated app for BigCommerce at any point?

@AlpacaByDesign Welcome to the community. I don't use BigCommerce, but I do use CommentSold. BigCommerce has to update the app to connect to square, the same way CommentSold does. Square doesn't update other companies apps. Have you been in contact with BigCommerce about the syncing problem? When Square was merging the categories CommentSold was losing the ability to sync with Square, they had to update their app several times because of all the changes Square was making. I'll bet that is what has happened to BigCommerce and it just hasn't been brought to their attention.

Hey thanks so much RTFulk! Appreciate the reply. Well, in this case unfortunately it was Square that deprecated the native Square app, and at the time there was rumblings that they were developing a new app for BigCommerce. Haven't heard anything new about that which is a bummer since a big part of the reason we chose BigCommerce was its native integration with Square which is what we use in our brick & mortar shop. So we're definitely asking and submitting feature requests on both BigCommerce and Square until (hopefully) some movement happens...

I know exactly what you mean, It's frustrating when you put so much time in putting up product, just to find out it's not syncing. It got so bad during the migration, I got the email address to the group that was developing the CommentSold app and I would email them every time something changed and it took them a few days to get it corrected, fortunately everything has been working fine for the past couple of months. I'm sure the CommentSold people are glad to not be getting daily/weekly emails from me. 🙂
