Item Options/Inventory

I own a start-up handmade candle business and therefore do not have a lot of stock at this point. I will be selling though my Square website and at in-person craft fairs using the Square Terminal. I want to offer two different colors of lids. For example, Vanilla with black lid and Vanilla with amber lid. No matter what lid they choose, the purchase needs to deduct a candle from the same Vanilla candle inventory, while also deducting a lid from that one particular lid's inventory. In other words, if I have 10 vanilla candles total, I do not want to tie the lids to the candles as one item, such as saying that I have 5 vanilla candles with black lids and 5 vanilla candles with amber lids.

What I DO want:

* I have 10 Vanilla candles

* A customer buys one vanilla candle with a black lid and one vanilla candle with an amber lid

* I need inventory to subtract 2 vanilla candles from my inventory as well as 1 black lid and 1 amber lid.

* When 1 lid is out of stock, I need my inventory to show that I still have vanilla candles available for sale, they would just need to choose the other lid option.

Is this possible, and if so, what would be the best way to accomplish it?  Would this setup make in-person craft fair customer checkout too cumbersome when using the Square Terminal?

For the most part I created an Item Vanilla and then used Variations for the Size of my candles.  We never got into the modifiers for doing a Lid color.  I think this might be able to be done with Modifiers.  Here is more on the Variations and on Modifiers.

Options also work for quickly making all your sizes for a new Scent.  Meaning I have an option set I call Candle Sizes.  I come out with a New Scent.  I choose to add the Option Set Candle Sizes, and Square will make Variations for each candle Size I have under the New Scent I created.  This saves alot of time since we have 18 different sizes in our candles.  The parts I am not sure on are keeping track of the quantity of lids, since it sounds as though your going to change the lid by order and not have premade candles by lid color to enter 7 Amber Lidded candles and 3 Black Lidded candles to put in inventory.    When we make our candles there are a definate quantity per size we make to enter and track in inventory and we always have the lids for each container.  My 2 cents are to maybe figure out which lid color sells out first and then buy only that lid color.  Less hasssel keeping inventory in the future.
