Ho do I get Square to automatically caculate Monthly, Quarterly and Annual subscription fees?

I just signed up for Square. I plan to offer two things:  Mobile App subscription and one time sale of devices that run my App. Devices part seems easy.These are physical goods that get shipped based on online order and POS sales at shows etc.

Subscription part is very confusing. Not clear to me how I setup:

Monthly

Quarterly

Annual

plans - do I create separate item with separate price for quarterly and annual billing and then offer subscriptions at a discount for each? That's the only thing that seems to work. Else you end up with customer subscribing to annual plan at monthly rate etc. Square does not seem to do any division, multiplications to create monthly, quarterly variations. very confusing.

My best advice would be to create an item called something like "Service Subscription" and then create the variations of the item. That way you will be able to see which variation has been sold the most.
