Gift card for franchise business

Since this thread was uploaded couple years ago, I wanna know if there are any updates about the gift card systems.

We're trying to expand our business to be franchised soon and have a couple questions about gift card.

1. If we have a different ownership and square account but the same brand (franchise) , Can gift card be redeemed in any locations?

2. Can gift cards be pooling through out the other franchise locations?

3. Are gift cards can not be purchased or redeemed on the locations with different ownership(separate square account - not combined as a master account)?

4. How do other big franchise businesses with square POS use the gift card functions? Are they all linked up with same one big master account?

Hello @BenK thanks for your post. I do not think there have been major changes beyond what you've already found in that thread. The only option I can think of is if your gift cards are issued under the same master account (with same owner), but you could have different locations set up within your account. I understand this isn't going to work with a franchised location that is under a different ownership. I'm sorry there isn't a solution that I can think of. Maybe someone else with more experience with larger companies and/or franchises can offer a different solution for you.
