square online categories rollout really fumbled

would have been cool of square to notify me of upcoming changes to my square online reports, but they did NOT, the DID however show a popup to go ahead and just switch over now before it was the final day, WITHOUT A WARNING THAT ALL THE SALES DATA WOULD THEN BE INACCESSIBLE. honestly what is HAPPENING WITH SQUARE! it is bs after bs, nothing is being improved only stripped away and nickel and dimed so we have to pay for ten different subscriptions and hundreds of dollars to try and get a working system!!!

 

now I have doubles of categories, you didn't wanna mention how we are supposed to deal with that?!

what a stupid poorly thought out and executed rollout of a feature removal to further charge for website features. 

it's just a constant escalating bait and switch with square. remember it used to be free? then you invest hours and hours of time building out the program so they have you stuck and then they remove the feature and charge you another 15 or 80 dollars for it.

@erinreyehair I think if I said you seem frustrated would be an understatement.

 

I have a blue billion categories and when I did the upgrade as part of the beta it took me a week to get used to it.  Maybe I can help you a bit.  You still have the same amount of categories, you just manage them all in one place.  So the categories you are used to having should be your "reporting" categories.  All of that sales data will always be available in reports.

 

Your online categories are more like "tags" now where you can have a specific grouping of items and then you can have that category show up online or not.

 

For me I have a wraps category and a quesadilla category.  But online I have a wrap and quesadillas.

 

I was able to get rid of having 4 different stores with 4 different items all the same with the new set up.  It is very easy to deal with the double categories.  You can just take that off those items.

 

But sales data never disappears, it is there, you can just set the flag to be square online and it will segregate that information out for you.

 

I hope this helps, feel free to pose the problem and myself or another in the community will be glad to help you.  And I will say, even if you move, you won't find a good community of sellers that know what you are going through somewhere else.
