Why does the online store show the item as "available later" and I cannot purchase it?

I would like to create a website and start preorders for Thanksgiving. All I need to do is get orders from customers, but I get an "availabe later" message and can't add items to my cart. I have tried everything, but I can't figure it out, so I am sending this message. Please help.
