Being a full service restaurant, we like offering the convenience for customers to be able to order online for pickup and delivery. However, being in the food service industry, everyone has allergies, sensitivities, and also general preferences.
When customers place an order online, as they select an item for purchase, they should be able to add a “Customer Note” to the item if they have any special requests, rather than having Customer Notes section at the checkout screen, which makes a note for the order as a whole.
Sometimes, the kitchen staff will miss those Customer Notes because they’re all the way at the bottom — especially if it’s a delivery. When it’s a delivery, the customer note is combined the delivery notes (ie. DoorDash notes).
Please please please add this feature!!

This is something you can do now.
There isn't a way to have it automatically added to each item, but you can do it manually.
You do this by going to your online store -> items -> site items ->
Select the item, scroll down to modifiers -> Click the Manage Modifiers button on the right ->
+ Create New
If you select "Typing text into a textbox" option, this provides the customer with a space to enter their own note for this item.
Label the question/textbox something like "special request" "item notes" or "allergies"... whatever makes sense for you, your staff, and your customers.
Note: This option is only available for the online store or checkout link. It will not display this textbox question on your POS.
You can choose at the bottom whether this is a required field or not.
Depending on the item, you might use the dropdown list option also.
For instance, you could call it "Allergies"
-Nuts
-Dairy
-Shellfish
-Other
-None (you could require this to be answered, so if they select none, you're not as liable)

You are a SAVIOR. Thank you!
Sucks I couldn’t bulk-edit all the items, but got the job done. Thank you so much.
