Status of custom item indicator request?

Status of custom item indicator request?

What is the status on the feature request for customizing the item indicator label?

I put my upcoming items online so people can learn about them before the release date. I want the banner to say something like COMING SOON, not OUT OF STOCK. It's incorrect, looks like I can't manage my inventory, and doesn't tell the customer it will be available soon. Turning off the indicator as previously suggested will frustrate the customer trying to add it to their cart.

I found an old thread from over 2 1/2 yrs ago and doesn't show up when I check out the "redesigned feature request experience" for me to be able to click the gold star to upvote it. The redesigned feature only goes back to March of last year on page 56.

The archived thread is: https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Read-only-archive-Square-Online/Can-I-customize-the-quot-Out-of-s...

An update and visible thread or an immediate customizable indicator would be appreciated.

Re: "Sold" vs. "Sold Out"

At this time, it isn't possible to customize the Out of stock message (formerly Sold out) for your Square website, @bradblackman.

I understand how a Sold message may help to differentiate between those one-of-a-kind items, and items that might be available again soon - this would be considered a feature request at this time. In the meantime, what you can do is toggle this setting off so that there is not a message shown when inventory hits 0 (Online Dashboard > Settings > Item Settings). I hope this helps!

Thanks for the upvote and the detailed post on the improvements you'd like to see implemented with Square Online. Hopefully we come back with some good news to share!

@palomaexchange

I would like to add my vote to the list. Would like to be able to use "Sold Out" or a custom message when we run out of inventory.

I really don't understand why this would have to be a "future request"? We run a restaurant, and it looks SO VERY UNPROFESSIONAL for our food items to say "low stock" and "out of stock" instead of "only a few left" or "sold out". As a matter of fact, it's down right embarrassing. I know some HTML and PHP and it's really not that difficult to allow your PAYING customers to change the verbiage on this to their specific needs. We all don't call it inventory....  PLEASE PLEASE get this fixed ASAP

Apparently we USED to be able to have "sold out" instead of "out of stock?"  Why should I pay more for something that used to be offered?  This is so bothersome.  I have one-of-a-kind items and "backorder" implies that there is more coming.  I don't want to remove the item from my site right away so that people can see what I've offered and understand that waiting before purchase runs the risk of not getting it at all.

I agree. This is weird that they wouldn't allow us to have a drop-down with options. They have an "Event Category" and when I'm "Out of Stock" I'd like either SOLD OUT or EVENT FULL

OK, it's now the future. Its been at least 1 year(or longer) since people starting asking for this, It's really not that hard. Where are we on this?

Hi, I agree here and will press square to make the option

Sure would like to see this very easy to do feature implemented! It's been well over a year. Thank you.

I would like to see this option to say sold, sold out, or out of stock. I would select “sold” because I also sell one of a kind pieces. Rarely more than one item available. Out of stock is a derogatory phrase in todays world of Covid supply chain problems. Please let’s get it changed already. Sold implies people love the store and products that I make and have control over. Out of stock implies that I can’t get something made from somewhere else. Words matter.

Status changed to: Not currently planned

Hey there, @Keiser -

Thank you for reaching out about the status of being able to customize the inventory indicators in the Online Store.

Right now, this is not planned on the roadmap by our Product Team.

Once more information becomes available, we can circle back to update the status on the request.

Also, thank you for tagging the previous thread where sellers brought up this feature request. I have added it to your post, so the Product Team can see how long sellers have been asking for this particular feature.
