Status of custom item indicator request?

What is the status on the feature request for customizing the item indicator label?

I put my upcoming items online so people can learn about them before the release date. I want the banner to say something like COMING SOON, not OUT OF STOCK. It's incorrect, looks like I can't manage my inventory, and doesn't tell the customer it will be available soon. Turning off the indicator as previously suggested will frustrate the customer trying to add it to their cart.

I found an old thread from over 2 1/2 yrs ago and doesn't show up when I check out the "redesigned feature request experience" for me to be able to click the gold star to upvote it. The redesigned feature only goes back to March of last year on page 56.

At this time, it isn't possible to customize the Out of stock message (formerly Sold out) for your Square website, @bradblackman.

I understand how a Sold message may help to differentiate between those one-of-a-kind items, and items that might be available again soon - this would be considered a feature request at this time. In the meantime, what you can do is toggle this setting off so that there is not a message shown when inventory hits 0 (Online Dashboard > Settings > Item Settings). I hope this helps!

I just want to add my name to the list of people who would like to customize the “out of stock” and “unavailable” messages.  I’d like is to say “Sold”!  We too sell one-of-a-kind items.

Hi, when inventory items are sold and become '0', an 'out of stock' note shows below the item. Is there a way I can change the wording to 'sold'?

I would also like to add my name to the list of people who would like an option to change the text of "Sold Out".   I do custom work and would like it to say something like "contact me for custom order" for things that have low stock.

I agree that "sold" is much better than "out of stock."  Since so many of us are asking for it, and apparently it used to be the wording, Square should consider offering this option instead of making it a "feature."  Just my two cents.  I make one of a kind items and there will always only be one available.  I don't want the item to necessarily drop off my site immediately, so that people can see what someone else has purchased from me.

In the gallery section of my client's homepage. He is requesting to place a sold tag on the product photo, when they are sold out. Is there a way to do this at all?

Hi there @Thanh - you are able to display an Out of stock badge when an item's stock hits 0 (Square Online overview page > Settings > Item Settings).

I've moved your post to this thread where I explained here that customizing the Out of stock badge to read as Sold is currently considered a feature request. We'll be sure to update this thread if something changes in the future, so stay subscribed here to receive notifications of new posts.

What I do is change the top line of the item desciption to something like 

"more available next week" so they know what is up with the product and will hopefully check back.

I would to change it as well or indicate that it is available as a special order Only item, when out of stock...
The problem is I run a Brick & Mortar store and Online... almost everything can be sold both ways, but some things I don't stock.  I could expand my online store, but I don't people thinking that they can just stop by the store and pick it up.

I would love to add my name to the list of those who would like the ability to customize the "Out of Stock" label. We too sell individual, one-of-a-kind items. It would be beneficial for them to say "Sold!" when they're no longer available.

I'd also like to add that it would ultimately be most helpful for us to be able to customize this a bit more. While I love using Square Online because it seamlessly integrates with our in-store Square POS operations, and have no plans on migrating from it, my site used to be hosted on Squarespace up until last year. What I honestly miss the most about it is the customization ability it included for the out of stock label. Being able to customize the color (so it matches the color scheme of the rest of the site), the shape of the label (looking more like a button, a square, or a circle), as well as what the label says, would all be a huge bonuses for us. It seems that with so many varying needs of others in this thread this could be helpful for other shops as well.
