Please add a feature for the Online store to disable customers from ordering when closed

It would be GREAT if Square can add the ability to make ordering unavailable outside of store hours.  For example, my restaurant closes at 5:30pm, however right now customers are still able to place orders but their pickup time will be tomorrow. 

 

Unfortunately, many people DO NOT read and will think that their order will be ready for pick up today (because they are not aware of the closed time, because...they DO NOT READ).  

 

To completely prevent any issues and confusion from arising to the customer, can we PLEASE have the ability for the website to not allow orders to be placed after the closing time, automatically? 

 

Right now, I have to go to "Checkout" and then toggle off the "Accept Online Orders" button each time we close at 5:30pm.  Its very inconvienant.

Are customers visiting your site online and placing orders for pickup or delivery, or are they using the self serve feature? Do you allowed scheduled pickup/delivery orders during regular business hours? 

 

Can you post a link to your site so we can get an idea of what the customer sees from their end? I'm wondering if there is something that is missing that would make it more obvious when the expected hours of operation should be.

Good suggestion, I could see how including a toggle to allow a seller to shut off orders outside of business hours, as useful. We have customers place orders almost every day for future delivery. Having the option has turned out to be pretty useful and most seem to get it.

Has this problem been resolved yet?  It's frustrating that we are having the same problem.  The only way I can find out if this is fixed, is by reading threads.  😞

Hey Keli, 

I actually found a work around solution for this. 

 

If you go to your Square Online dashboard, "Site Categories" and for each category you'll be able to set a schedule. I set the schedule to my store business hours. This way customers won't be able to order outside of the schedule that i've set here.

 

It's been working like a charm so far!

Does this disallow them to order or just tell them they are attempting to place the order outside of available hours?
