I have some digital products that I would like to add to my shop and I know there is an option to add them but the way for people to receive them is an extra step I'd like to take out of the equation. Right now the only thing that I have noticed works is... the customer orders the digital file and a confirmation email is sent to them saying they will receive their file in another email. This sends me an email showing I have an order and then I have to go collect the customers email from the order, create a new email to them, add the attached file and then send it to the paying customer. I feel like this takes extra steps that could be avoided as well as makes the customer wait longer than necessary to receive their file. I would love to know if there is another way around doing this so that maybe an automatic email with the file is sent with their purchase confirmation or if there is a way to set it up on the site that once the payment is confirmed a pop up appears for them to easily download the file directly from the site.

Unfortunately at the present there's no options or features to do what you have in mind. Automating Digital Downloads has been on the request list for quite some time as are many other great suggestions. If you search the Community, you will find many posts asking the same thing.
Basically there's two options - both take a manual effort - one can either follow-up with an email that includes the Attachment or File or send an email with a link to a Cloud Service like Dropbox or Google whereas the customer can download the File.
There are several 3rd party services that can manage Digital Downloads however, from what I can find, they don't use Square as their Transaction Processor. For example, this 3rd party service is easy to use and can work with several different Transaction Processors but, sadly not Square.

Once a customer orders a digital download from your site they get an emailed confirmation order. Then immediately after the first email, they get a second email with the link to access the digital down they purchased. All automated.
