Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

The title of this post has been edited from the original:  Can automatic discounts be used on the online store?

When I create automatic discounts, such as quantity or amount discounts, they work perfectly well on my point of sale but do not work on my online store.

Can anyone help me?

Hello there!

I appreciate all your patience while we work to get this feature implemented. The beta testing for this feature has currently been delayed. Our team is working very hard on the backend to resolve some roadblocks that have prevented this from going. If you would still like to join the Beta for this request you can certainly still do so. I know this is incredibly hard but I appreciate you all for hanging in there! 🙏

Hi! We'll be launching a beta test for Automatic Discounts on Square Online in the next couple of weeks. Head over to Automatic Discounts for Square Online to join the Beta Community and request access to this beta test.

Currently, the Online Store doesn't support Buy-one-get-one coupons. However, you can assign standard discounts to certain categories. From the site editor,  visit Items > Coupons > Add Coupon. You'll find an option to choose eligible categories under Discount Details at the bottom of the page.

Yeah this is ridiculous. This is so important for businesses.. especially at the holidays. I can’t even offer a buy one get one 50% or even free cause I can’t do that. This is annoying.

Adding our name to the long list of wanting the buy x items get x items free online.  As a web developer myself, I don't understand how this has not been added yet, especially since it's clearly something Square users want and need.  In fact, it's the whole reason I was going to move my wife's shop from Etsy to Square online because I saw the ability to do an automatic buy x get x free.  I was bummed and frustrated when I read it didn't work for the website.  In the interest of time, I really didn't want to have to build a store myself, but it's looking more and more like that's what I need to do to get the features we want.  I was also amazed I couldn't do something as basic as deleting a photo I uploaded to use on the website.  I saw that I can delete photos for an item but not banners etc.  **insert face palm emoji here**

The only thing keeping me from switching my website over to Square is the pitiful discount setup that the online websites have.  If they were to have the same functionality as the Retail POS system, I would switch in a heartbeat!

The retail POS worked extremely well for us last fall at our major 9-week event.  Ran two separate locations, had different inventories at both locations, were able to transfer stock when necessary, and was able to set up the discounts our customers have expected from us for years.  

The functionality of Square would increase exponentially if we are able to include our online sales as well.  I forsee holding our inventory in our 'office' location, the online website drawing their inventory from there, being able to transfer inventory to other locations during seasonal events (we sell at Renaissance Faires and Celtic Festivals), and the time we would save trying to figure out if we have X in stock at any location, or if we need to make Y, the ability to project what we need to make to keep all locations in stock, or how much sales tax do we send to which state this month........  I am pumped about the possibilities!

But without having the same discount functions in the online site as we do at the retail location, this becomes a deal breaker.

Please, please, make this a priority!  I was originally told it was scheduled to roll out at the end of 2021.  Now I'm being told it is just a feature request.  Make this happen!

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback here. While this is considered a feature request, it is something the team is actively working on. We do not have an exact eta to provide, however, this particular feature is a high priority and will be released accordingly.

Any update on this feature? I would like to offer the same discount options online as when someone reaches out to me directly to place an order. This would help us push automation of orders even more. Please give a status update @Square. TIA

My account renews in March and I'm not renewing. I've been waiting around for this feature to be added for almost 2 years now. I will take my website elsewhere and get this feature with someone else.

@Square why is this feature which is a very basic requirement taking so long to impliment? Do you have any indication when it will be available?
