Feature Request: BOGO (Buy one, get one) and other automatic discounts via my Square Online website

The title of this post has been edited from the original:  Can automatic discounts be used on the online store?

When I create automatic discounts, such as quantity or amount discounts, they work perfectly well on my point of sale but do not work on my online store.

Can anyone help me?

Hello there!

I appreciate all your patience while we work to get this feature implemented. The beta testing for this feature has currently been delayed. Our team is working very hard on the backend to resolve some roadblocks that have prevented this from going. If you would still like to join the Beta for this request you can certainly still do so. I know this is incredibly hard but I appreciate you all for hanging in there! 🙏

Hi! We'll be launching a beta test for Automatic Discounts on Square Online in the next couple of weeks. Head over to Automatic Discounts for Square Online to join the Beta Community and request access to this beta test.

Currently, the Online Store doesn't support Buy-one-get-one coupons. However, you can assign standard discounts to certain categories. From the site editor,  visit Items > Coupons > Add Coupon. You'll find an option to choose eligible categories under Discount Details at the bottom of the page.

The discounts are still in beta testing but once the test is finished it will allow you to set up automatic discounts in the dashboard for POS and with and option to activate the discounts on the Square Online website. It will be a great feature once the testing is completed, but as you can image a very complex feature to add. Automated emails are a paid feature in Square Online, you can find under marketing and automated. You can also send automated emails from Square marketing.

We are wanting to run the same promo in shop and online but the online features are very limited when it comes to discount.
When will they match the in store?

I have saw the chat has been going on since 2020 to get BOGO done but it appears 2023 its still not a feature?

Thank you.  Yes, I found the option for the POS, but after setting it up, realized it didn't work online, which is what I really need.  I did sign up for the automated emails & texts (trying it out free for 30 days), and have been trying to learn how to best do that.  I will be anxiously awaiting the roll out.  Thank you.  Again, sorry if I seemed rude - there is just so much to learn and I have been frustrated.  Have a great weekend.

@kmccoy Yes, I am part of the Beta testing. You don't seem cross to me. I get it, it can be frustrating trying to find what you are looking for sometimes when you first starting using a new system.

I set up the BOGO for in-person shopping for now (my website is pending). I think I found what you are looking for. This option is for both online and in-person shopping. It looks like this would work for new customers. 

If you go to your home screen there is a section to click that says "Customers". Click that and then "Marketing", from there click "Welcome New Customers". In the upper right hand side you will see a "Design" button that lets you modify the template, add the discount you want to give.

Hi Crystal - thank you. I actually set this up last week, but I believe it only allows a coupon to be sent after an initial purchase. Is that correct? I’m looking for something that allows a coupon upon signing up for text or email marketing.

The beta team are working hard on the automated discounts online, once complete it will be really good and worth the wait. They just want it to be the best it can be. Once the automated discount is set up in the POS it will be as simple as ticking the box to activate it online. Although not active at the moment, it might be worth playing with the discounts in the POS so you are familiar with them, there is a lot of flexibility and functionality built in to the discounts, this will put you ahead of the curve for when they go live with the automated discounts online.

Totally understand the frustration and it’s not a problem 🙃, it can be a little difficult finding your way around a new system but you will get there with time. The Square community is a really nice, friendly and helpful space that want to help out, so just put your challenges to the community and somebody will step up to help if they can.
