Feature Request - Ability to mark public holidays / other specific days as closed in Square Online

Just curious as to how to accommodate change-of-hours to allow for public holidays as a one-off event, i.e. impacting just the one day?  Trying to avoid just editing the usual weekly schedule either side of the holiday, mainly as there doesn't seem to be a way 'mark the day', nor to assure customers of any closures being irregular & stand-alone, rather than them appearing as though they're ongoing and/or permanent changes...

Hey @berriescorner

Thanks for posting! At the moment we do not have a feature to update public holiday hours temporarily. We definitely see how this could beneficial, so I'll be sharing this feedback with our product team.

In the meantime, it would have to be adjusted manually. I'll let you know if I hear of any updates to this feature!

Hey Boris,

Not quite the answer we were looking for, but appreciate the response nonetheless!

Fingers crossed there may be a new feature up-and-running by Cup Day... 😉

This is a feature desperately needed in square.

There are many times when single/special days need to be blacked out for a myriad of reasons (public holidays, personal holiday, unexpectedly busy day etc) and its just not practical to change the store hours for one day, especially when customers are booking multiple weeks in advance. If I change my store hours to block out a Monday public holiday (for example), then it prevents someone booking for any Mondays until I change it back.

The other work around at the moment (pop ups and written instructions etc) doesn't work as majority of people don't read anything and proceed ahead regardless.

Just wanted to add my name to the list of businesses wanting/needing this feature!

Thanks 🙂

Hey @CakesbyDrew,

Thanks for the feedback! This is a request I've heard a few times, also in the context of closing a store for the night once stock has run out without preventing customers from ordering ahead on other days.

I'm not sure if and when this feature may be released, but I agree it would be a super useful one and has multiple use cases.

I'll continue to pass on feedback - the best place to follow for updates is our Square Online updates feed.

I agree. With the upcoming Christmas and festive season, it would be wonderful to have this feature before December. Fingers crossed the dev team can make this happen!

Just adding my name to the list of businesses that would love to see this feature added and ASAP!!! Thanks!!!

I would also like to strongly recommend this feature be developed!!

We love being able to offer scheduled pick-ups to our customers, but without being able to indicate the holidays we will be closed, customers are able to select pick-ups on holidays. We can't just turn off those days of the week, because orders are coming in several weeks in advance.

There is also no way to limit how in advance a customer can order. The options are not at all or 90 days. Setting a custom limit would help at the bare minimum so we could manually reduce the number of days as we approach the holidays.

The holidays are fast approaching and this is incredibly stressful that such a basic feature isn't available. I may be forced to turn off scheduled pick-ups which would result in a loss of sales during a time we rely on the most throughout the year.

Hi all!

I'm still fairly new to this but I'm looking to work out how to temporarily turn off my store as such. Well, just turn off being able to order. I'm being slammed with orders and we are going away for the weekend.

Also is there a way to change all my items to a longer fulfilment time together or do I have to do each one at a time?

If anyone could please help me I'd be so grateful!

Hey @katewandevanh,

I've moved your post to this thread where we're tracking the feature request. This has been a popular request and I hope it's something our eCommerce team can implement soon.

The workaround for now is to change your business hours take out the days you're taking off. Unfortunately this will prevent ordering ahead for these days in the future, so it's not ideal, but is one workaround you can use for now!

A bit late for Christmas but I've just noticed a "Restricted Dates" feature pop up today in the delivery/pickup settings. Tested out and it appears to be what we've all be waiting for! Better late than never. Hooray!
