Can the number of items ordered be changed in Square online?

I am a direct sales farmer (I sell eggs, meats, produce, etc. directly to the consumer). I sell meat by weight. When selling in person, at our farm store, or at farmers market, it is easy to add the weight of items in the Square POS. I recently switched from Local Line to Square online for online ordering. I have been having issues with trying to make those adjustments in the Square online program. 

 

I am trying to find out if there is a way to make adjustments to an order that has been placed online. I thought that I would be able to make adjustments to the amount ordered on individual orders but have not found a way to achieve this change.  

 

Currently, I have customers who want to use their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Store Credit to pay for online orders. I am having them look at the website to find what items are available. They then send an email with the number of items they desire to a dedicated email address. I then pull the items, create an invoice using the weights of those items, add a discount for their CSA amount, then send the invoice for the order. The problem in this situation is that if the customer has placed an order that is less than the amount of their store credit, I cannot send the invoice. 

 

If someone prepays for an online order, there is not a way to update the count with the weight of each particular item. I assume that if I cancel the order to create an invoice so that I can update the weights, that the payment will also be cancelled. Is there a work-a-round for this?

Thanks for reaching out to us once more regarding your questions. When it comes to editing online orders and pre paid orders, these orders cannot be changed/edited, that includes the price and weigh of the item once the transaction has gone through. 

 

This is a feature we are still gathering details for and will be happy to send over to our product team. In the meantime, your email workaround for customers using CSA is the best option.
