Can no longer bulk edit categories online

We only recently starting using square online. I went in and made lots of neat little categories and sub categories that I could quickly select multiple items from the items table and bulk edit and "add to category". It was wonderful. Now all category edits have to be done in the main dashboard. To make matters worse, I now have duplicate categories!! So frustrating. Why did they make this change?? Can they change it back or at least allow us to bulk edit add items to a category from the online dashboard?

I'm sorry about frustrations you're facing. I too as a fellow seller have experienced similar challenges with categories. While I don't have an immediate solution, what I can say is that Square is aware of the challenges that sellers are facing with categories and is actively working to address many of those challenges. Input from sellers like you (and me) help to surface these challenges and get them addressed as soon as possible.

I'm also having issues with categories.  I've uploaded new products, and they need to be assigned to various categories.
I go to the dashboard and select the items I want to add to a category.  Then I go to Actions > Update Categories.  But the problem is I add them to the category and then all the other categories they were assigned to are deleted. 
Each item has 4-8 categories it belongs to and they all differ.  I'm basically having to do each item individually and as I add about 50 new products a month that is very time consuming!
