Good question!
Right now, Square does not support the ability to backdate a payment. If you need to record a payment for a past date, you could consider creating an invoice for your customer and recording the payment as accepted outside of Square. However, the invoice date will still show as the date it was created.

Thank you. Itโs quite unbelievable to think that square expects everyone to do book keeping daily in order to record payments accurately via direct deposit !!
