I've just activated the Abandoned Cart email feature, I understand it is moving to Marketing.
I set up the email template in the Abandoned Cart email template, did a test to my own email address and I received a template from the unused template under Communications > Email and Text Alerts instead. Pretty frustrating.

In the meantime, let's see if we can get you to recover your existing Abandoned Cart email template by following these steps:
1. From your Square Dashboard, navigate to Marketing.
2. Select Automations > Create Automation. Select Email and then Next.
3. From the left-hand navigation, scroll to the bottom and you will see Ecommerce > Recover an Abandoned Cart.
4. Follow the prompts to update the wait time and design elements.
6. Once completed, select Review and then Activate to initiate the automation.
You are correct that the Abandoned Cart email automation is transitioning to Square Marketing as of January 20, 2025. This change is intended to consolidate all outbound customer email communication into one location, rather than spreading it across individual products in your Square account.
Our recommendation is to start preparing now by setting up your email template in Square Marketing. This will help ensure a seamless transition to the new system from January 20 onward. Should you continue to encounter any further issues after recovering your template via Square Marketing, please let us know.
