I have my directory of existing customers, for most of them I have name and emails, for some of them I have phone number.
I want to encourage them to sign up for SMS marketing so we can communicate that way. However a current customer doesn't have a phone number and uses the text-to-join feature that number gets added a new entry and I have no idea which customer it goes with.
Is there a way to assocate them or a better way to collect the SMS opt-ins? We don't use the POS much so that opt-in is not a great option.

I reached out to the Square Marketing Support Team and this is what they let me know, "Outside of text to join, as well as the Point of Sale, Sellers can also use Appointments to opt customers in if they are an Appointments user. They can also create an email campaign advertising the text message marketing program, but that would essentially prompt customers to use text to join."
